On March 24, 2017, at the meeting with businessmen and journalists, held in the New York Office of the Russian Trade Representation in the USA, Trade Representative Alexander Y. Stadnik took stock of the year and outlined the priorities for the future. A part of the event was dedicated to the issues of prevention of bribery of foreign public officials in international business transactions. Among participants were representatives of Russian and foreign businesses, such as Mikhail Markin (Chief Executive Officer, HaloPolymer), Olga Miller (Chief Executive Officer, Renova Group), Andrey Novokshonov (Aeroflot Russian Airlines General Director, USA), Kyle Shostak (Managing Director, Navigator Principal Investors), Elena Beier (Managing partner, Beier & Partners) as well as representatives of the media, such as Igor Borisenkov (Bureau Chief, TASS Russian News Agency in NYC), Ekaterina Sobol (Special Correspondent, RIA Novosti), Ludmila Chernova (Correspondent, Sputnik News Agency), Anna Sergeeva (Representative of the Russia Beyond The Headlines in New York).
During the meeting the participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to combating corruption and bribery of foreign public officials in international business transactions.
In particular, Mr. Stadnik highlighted the measures taken by the Russian Federation to implement statements of the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions. It was also discussed what joint initiatives of the business associations and unions are performed to consolidate the companies’ efforts to prevent bribery, as well as joint activities of public authorities and businesses in the area of combating corruption.
Participants acknowledged the urgency of measures taken to combat bribery in international business transactions and the need strengthening joint efforts in this area.
In this context it was stressed that organizations should realize the importance of joining the Anti-Corruption Charter of the Russian Business for the development of their anti-corruption compliance based on the requirements of Article 13.3 of the Federal Law of December No. 273-FZ "On Combating Corruption", Guidelines for the development and adoption of measures to prevent and fight corruption by the organizations, the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions and the Good Practice Guidance on Internal Controls, Ethics and Compliance adopted by the OECD Council on February 18, 2010.
Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the United States of America Alexander Yurievich Stadnik emphasized that the Russian Federation traditionally had close relations with the USA and is going to continue promoting active cooperation in the anti-corruption area and strengthen economic interaction based on principles of honesty, openness and partnership.
At the end of the meeting the participants enjoyed a buffet, during which they discussed their future plans and the possibilities of establishing and developing joint projects.
